The truth about Cat Despira of Washington
Cat claims to be a gamer YET I see almost 0 scores in the data base regarding her so called skills, I personally delt with Despira and let me tell you it's like dealing with three individuals on any given day to say the least. She is very similar to the the next disgrace of gaming I will share with you in a few, keep in mind this is ONLY a summery the rest is for my book
Starters before king of kong 2006-07 NOBODY ever heard of Cat Despira
More like Cat De lie to you!!!!!!
The woman claimed to be as a Double in a female stars music video with no evidence to back it up.... the leak is saved to be used at a later date...
The woman has made sure to friend everyone and anyone for the sake of her writing she used gamers to begin giving herself a name writing articles and doing little things to make herself look good and as someone she never was, examples are she will be your pal till you disagree or call her out on one of her faults, she will claim to be SO busy yet posting on facebook and fighting and then making up with people all day and than calling me up saying oh I have to be on both sides, she did this to many gamers and broke their hearts.
Cat claims she will do things and NOT them and than make excuses she is too busy and basically concentrate on certain people for a period of time and bash others and then bash them ONCE they figure out her fraud and corrupt ways.
Cat used Retrocade Magazine to get to TG I and many other gamers can show you TONS of conversations online including the ones she attempted to delete HOWEVER we were smart enough to retain them..
The talking would start off as positive to cursing you out to assuming your recording to her worse FLAW accusing you being sexiest, if you check out her facebook pages and other links she is on you will hear it every second....
While working for retrocade she claimed Twingalaxies was dead and that she was bringing them down along with Patrick Scott Patterson who will get into in another thread, she would back stab me, the owner of retrocade and basically everyone in gaming BUT not to their face.
Cat also claimed her FB page was hacked by me where SHE posted a models photo she STOLE off the internet and photoshopped it to make it look like her new haircut and then claimed I hacked it.
I said why in the world would I hack you let alone make your image look better if I did.....
Cat had promised myself and others pictures and articles at live events such as the Kong off 2 even at that time Rich Knucklez said shot herself in the foot and after all she did wrong not doing her job until months later, she was SOMEHOW hired as a writer for Twingalaxies which is failing big time.
Cat was hired now a second time to do an article on me and once again waited months to do so, after I hired someone to do mine, it had so many errors in hers I thought it was written by a six year old..
Cat De
spira has also claimed she can get 500k i DK DK3 yet she not only does not PLAY the game she now tries to deny all of that talk she said.....
Why would anyone trust her she thinks the entire midwest is out to get her she falsely accused me of hacking her, falsely accused a gamer of trying to steal TG's data base, she lies about who she is and what she does....
Claims to be a video game expert, a player, and a writer OF any are true I feel sorry for those who think she is for real
Excuses excuses scary but true kinda like our countries govt.....
No answers all rubbish
P.S in the first photo on HER FB page she clearly states she was holding back a laugh YET she was claiming to be crying in this video and she was obviously poor acting....... hiding behind a camera filming herself and later removed her video like she tries to cover up all her lies and dismay
Photos are avail on the internet ALL photos are PUBLIC so they are legal to be used no laws are violated.....
More or less could be added about this woman however will leave it at that
Update on her FB page claims to NEVER written about me REALLY???? That link is one of many PROB be erased soon here is TO Cat De lie to ya
Clearly here trying to state TG has been and always was #1 and official and than trying to claim since SDA was not inspected by them so call experts means it's not a real scoreboard, WELL neither is TG they lost Guinness and they hired their own UNQUALIFIED friends to verify scores and STILL wanna be paid, cat here ONCE gain showing she is no gaming expert or gamer BY any means and THAN includes Patricks web site another FRAUD
Nobody heard about these people till 2007-08 after KOK and many others, they are NOT experts nor should they be claiming it

Seriously, when you men stop making figurative comparisons on who's dick is bigger, and stop pissing out your territorial lines, I'll be over here deciding what is best for the gamers. As always. Alone.
You don't make champions. They make themselves. Remember that and respect that by serving them fairly and with respect to those who serve them...and YOU.

Daniel R Pizana Some group of idiots pissed her off and so she inadvertently stereotyped men. She does that from time to time, lol. Kind of counterproductive when you look at it in terms of equality. This might piss her off even more, but truth is truth. I take the position of blaming the individual(s) for their actions and not the entire group they belong too. She is a bit hotheaded at times, .

Cat DeSpira Tired of all these scoreboards who have no respect for the past and piss on historical facts and procedures. Each has different rules, different camps, different objectives. It's ridiculous. And it is destroying everything. Worst thing is, no one seems to care. They are like ravens trying to overtake each others nests, throwing the eggs out - the gamers- to take over the tree. Just foolish. So foolish.
Who knows what a WR means anymore? "Which WR? " is now the question. Can't survive like that. This scene can't.

Brian Allen I will not go into how I feel about all these score boards and there rules .. It should be simple but it's not
58 minutes ago
Robert T Mruczek Well Cat, the issue of scoreboards trying to overtake each other is simple. There is no one single scoreboard that is "definitive" anymore. Each services a niche, and in some cases the scoreboards cross respective niches, thus duplicative services to the gaming community.
No one scoreboard can lay claim to a particular niche. All they could ever hope to do would be to handle their niche(s) the best way possible.
As for what a "WR" means anymore, one scoreboard in particular is partially to blame. The shift from a service model to a business model is a step towards profitability but it came at the expense of the integrity of the scoreboard. The minute money was introduced the "WR" became the highest score of those who paid. There is no denying this.
A per-submission fee was never the way to go. An annual fee...with different tiers and privileges per tier...would have been uniform. The gamers and their scores make the scoreboard what it is and not the other way around. So you really can't complain about "what a WR is" anymore. What's done is done...though it can still be UN-done. Problem is greed. Instead of rebuilding the business model towards one that can attract profit from endorsements, sponsorships, advertising in the BoR, ancilliary merchandise and so forth, profitability is coming entirely at the expense of the gamer and that is just not the way this should have gone.

Robert T Mruczek As far as scoreboards having no respect for the past and pissing on historical facts and procedures, to use your quote, current and prior management of TG/TGI is guilty of this as well.
Policies that had been well established had been altered or flat out deleted as if they never existed simply because "new management"...and I use that term loosely...wanted to do a re-boot. And prior "management" should never have been management in the first place. Between the two TG went to hell in a hand basket in short order.
Not unlike how a new political administrator such as mayor, governor, etc decides to undo certain decisions and policies that the "other party" had in place, or that were made in the prior administration, current and immediately prior TG/TGI "management" did the very same thing.
When established rules are in place and they are changed at a later date that is a slap in the face at everyone who played under those original rules.

Daniel R Pizana I got a "Blah blah blah. Whatever"..win! As a comparison I would say that trying to one-up Machiavellian style is no different than one woman trying to be "prettier" or more successful than another woman (or man). Trying to be the best by any means necessary and damn the consequences..pretty much sums it up. Correct me if I'm wrong but, doesn't a World Record exist to be challenged and/or beaten? The only thing wrong are the means utilized to beat the world record. There is an honorable way and a Machiavelli way...the honorable way is the only respectable way in my personal opinion.

Cat DeSpira All this mess occurred because one group of men, right after Walter, divided the scene. I called it then, and I call it to recollection now. Since then, no one has tried to mend that, and now WR have lost their once illustrious meaning. This is why it is like pulling teeth to get mainstream media to even notice one. It takes a team now to do that.
While everyone seems to be vying for position to gain a stronghold - which they will never get because there is not one - they fail to see what is being lost in the process. Glory replaced with mediocrity. That loss cleaves me because I have the foresight to know what comes next: nothing.
Nothing.

Seth Payment I'm not exactly a competitive player but I do work with one scoreboard keeper and they openly talk trash about there competition all the time. I'm not exactly a fan of that because they're morally corrupted in that they're trying to get the "official title" as if it were some sort of political campaign commercial.

Robert T Mruczek Cat, keep in mind that only a select few gamers expect or even thrive on media attention for their achievements. I get the feeling that classic arcade and console gamers have stars in their eyes when they look at how a couple of gamers got mega attention from documentaries, or what the "StarCraft" set gets and so forth. For me, and the vast majority of gamers, it was never about media attention...it was at best about being recognized by your peers.
Without singling out one or more names, we all know that there are a few whose every word and action seemingly cannot be done without the media present or being alerted. And then there are those who grouse about lack of media attention for what they do. That is truly taking what is and should clearly be a grassroots hobby, first and foremost, and jump-starting it towards mainstream in the shortest route possible.
Look...classic gaming has been around since the 1970's, and for a brief 6 year period in the 1980's it had its moment in the spotlight. Too much is being done all around to reclaim those "glory days", but what is really being missed in the process is that it was never about being in the spotlight of the media...and THAT is what is killing things in addition to the cost of score submissions.
For 5-1/2 years I went thru 7 VCR's replacing all but one at my own expense (I believe Alex Weir sent me another as a gift) and invested around 8000 hours into watching performances...at NO fee...same for entering almost 20,000 scores into the database. All for the benefit of the gamer as is reflected in the 300+ combined articles that I wrote for TG from 2001-2006. All at NO cost to the gamer save for one isolated instance where a gamer's parents paid for me to travel to another state on the weekend to watch their son perform in a local arcade so he could get his moment in the spotlight and share with his friends.
Today's "management" sees dollar signs first and foremost. Instead of writing off the initial investment as a growth expense and seeing just how well they can make the product turn out, they want to recoup the investment immediately and their methodology is an epic disaster. Score submissions are down save for premiere submissions on DK and the like, and that alone will not pay the bills or build the brand. TG/TGI was never about one gamer...which is what destroyed TG before...nor is it about one title...which is now part of what is destroying TG now. I mean, come on....Kong Off THREE ?? Geez, it is like no other title warrants recognition anymore. And after this on interest will wane significantly...especially once the score plateaus at around 1.225M or so. If it ever gets beaten it will be by a pittance and the media hoopla will be of a so-what nature after awhile.
Once gamers get back to simply doing there thing and being proud of seeing their name on the scoreboard...WITHOUT a per submission cost...things will be better. But until the media-thriving gamers stop the nonsense of demanding in some cases media recognition, things will never change. It comes down to the love of the game...NOT the love of the media attention. Which perspective would you rather have ? ("you" figuratively representative of the average gamer, of course)

Cat DeSpira You know what I forsee in the future if this isn't mended? A world unconcerned with gaming greatness save for an obscure gaming webpage or two, where WRs are only regarded as such by a the few members who care anymore.
But one thing I know for certain; years from now, in some college classroom lecturing on social history, when the lecture turns to gaming, Walter Day's face will come up on screen...and Twin Galaxies because, accept it or not, its impact will forever be something each and every one of you will try to create...and fail. It will always be so. You're only satellites with dim lights on the horizon, alongside a mothership you're merely the prodigal sons of.

I USED FIVER FOR ART
Eight years ago I walked into this world, a collector of arcades with a penchant for gaming history. Before, I thought I was alone in all of this. Then I found you -a community thriving with ambitious players and earnest supporters. It was crazy-beautiful and I had so much fun.
Prior to all of this I was engaged in nature photography and field guide recording, traipsing hillsides, hiking through forests and crawling on my hands and knees through wetlands and creeks. I enjoyed a life around musicians, poets, artists and intelligentsia -people who are always pondering the mysteries of the world and the human condition out loud. And I played a lot of video games -alone or in groups with friends- and then I found The Twin Galaxies world, and my whole life changed.
Finding the classic community was wonderful, and my coming in at a time when everything seemed to be transitioning in a new direction felt predestined as, one by one, I met others on the same path as me. I was not received well at first by some communities –and am still not- my outspoken ways and renegade romantic spirit were felt to be more fitting for saving a forest than helping putting a community back together. Being a woman also had its odd consequences. Other than Walter Day, I do not believe anyone has ever attracted the amount of negativity I have. But nonetheless, I found my niche; created alliances based on mutual vision and respect, and made friends with people who will remain my friends for the remainder of my life.
But in my service to the gaming community I lost a tremendous part of my own life. In a way, I lost my identity. The gaming world engulfed me like a tidal wave -and I allowed it to- and, in turn, made my own waves when necessary. I love gaming and I love gamers. I love Water Day and Twin Galaxies, and proudly wore –as Patrick Scott Patterson so aptly put it- The Scarlett Letters of my association with it. As with anything that inspires me or I love, I have a curse/blessing of throwing myself headlong into it with the passion of a sky diver speeding towards earth without a chute. I never think about the landing. It’s the flight that compels me to jump and my faith rests in knowing there is more water than earth.
Along my journey in this scene I have worked with so many gifted and inspiring people along the way -Rob Maerz, Dave Danzara, Walter Day, Richie Knucklez, Jourdan Adler, Craig Bailey, Joel West, Jon Exidy Jamshid and Patrick Scott Patterson to name but a few- people who saw something in me others did not, people who taught me immeasurable skills, including the art of self-sacrifice- and together we did great things. Most importantly, we did them for the right reasons; to uplift others, to continue Walter Day’s wonderful visions and to keep classic gaming as he envisioned it, alive. I regret nothing. And if I had it to do all over again I would jump just as willingly in spite of the hazards.
That’s what you do when you love something or someone.
You free-fall…and let luck take you.
I thought about what I am about to tell you for weeks, ran it over and over again in my head, hoping my feelings would just go away –but they wouldn’t. I want to pursue other opportunities. I want my life back. I want my identity outside of gaming back. I miss Catherine, the nature woman with a camera in one hand and a field guide in the other; the one who used to dream of writing novels; the arm chair anthropologist; the one who played guitar and painted impressionistic paintings; the one who took long hikes up mountains for no other reason than to see the lupine bloom in “2 o’clock sunlight”. The woman you don’t know about.
I will be leaving the classic gaming scene immediately. My decision is permanent. It is not because of any wrong doing or any negative feelings on anyone or anything.
It’s just simply time for me to go.
I will miss you so much, and I will miss your world, the one I shared your triumphs in, your struggles, your hopes.
Thank you so much for your strength and your support, your incredible friendship and love along the way, and especially in times when I was overwhelmed, exhausted, under-staffed and unsure of how to proceed. Thank you for believing in me and for your ever-present guidance when I needed it. I will sincerely look back on the last 7 years as being a highlight of my life and the decade I learned just how strong I was.
They say when one door closes, another will open.
Yes, but standing in the hallway can be hell.
Love,
Cat
